Carrot with Orange

This is the English version of the article Portakalla Havuç.

Hey everyone! I am back again with a pinch of inspiration of orange and carrot.

I’ve been to Addis Ababa (“new flower” in their language) Ethiopia in one of the last weeks. One of the things served for breakfast was orange carrot salad. I had to read the tiny tag to understand what it was. I have no idea where you are from and if you are familiar with this combination but I can honestly say that this was completely something alien to me. With the codes we already have in our minds, we do know orange and carrot on their own. Then we come across them together, it just sounds like something completely different.

I usually try to keep variation of colours in my plates, both for nutrition and aesthetics… I also know the orange and carrot both orange. But I feel that they have different orange colors in their souls now. Two orange colors could be together by protecting their cores, I witnessed.

For the last days, I have been thinking of these things again and again. The hive that we born into, it might be not enough for some times. We have to feel that and be aware. We have to be a part of the change.

We have to try.

Try it once if that is possible. Not enough, try it twice, not even twice, until it is gonna be a succession.
To beat a harsh obstacle cannot be done with soft uncertain moves. It is possible with tough and confident moves.

Barış Özcan

It was something about distractions while we read when he said this, if I remember correctly. I can admit that I was just feeling like it is a failure when I am distracted from the book. I was even feeling mad at myself and feeling awful. Then leaving the book was being the leading step of course… However, thanks to perspective of Barış Özcan, I have another window in my mind now. He says that, even if you feel bored and distracted again and again, keep going, try again, even though you do not get anything from the book, you will have a victory for your focus level. Is it not wonderful? You can get a victory still, even if you cannot finish the book as you like.

This is not easy as that seems for all absolutely. Usually the opposite. Some things happen, some people we face with, or no one, just loneliness, we feel cold, we sweat, thirst, hunger… Billions of things. We are missing out on some of the beauty of living.

You have to go back to that indigenous feeling of observing how beautiful the world as it is.

Annie Norgarb. (Reflections of Life, The Beauty of Living)

“The world as it is” part catches me. As how it is? Which way? How much are we aware of these things? Could our eyes rest enough and awakened well to catch those things when they just see?

The Beauty of Living is a great film, by the way. Worth to watch.

How much is it possible to observe the life with our bare eyes? In how much time?

The point is to reach that level to be able to sit down and zone out… Isn’t it?

Be yourself. Whatever happens, be you. Do not imitate, take the discomfort of being you wherever you are. You worth it, you you you…

The sentences we come across, with short term tiny motivation bubbles… That is the core, to know how to be yourself. Who would like to be someone else otherwise?

We are not able to read this world enough. We cannot know ourselves.

How can we be “the selves” if we do not even know much yet?

Even for plays, people have to spend huge time and effort to create these selves… How are we supposed to be ourselves?

By reading more and more –whatever you choose to read, books or the universe- and many ways to meet. Art and aesthetics always appeal to me a lot. I determined a “next step” for myself for it. More precisely, I am gonna try to adapt the tiny pathway beginning in my life, which is designed by Danny Gregory. I feel like, trying to draw something, makes it more authentic to us. I always wanted to be in, this kind of drawing things. I have always wanted to be able to use my favorite pencils and paints more, and unfortunately, this area, which I avoided because of thinking that my pieces would not be beautiful enough, cannot be mine because of the practices I do not belong to because of avoiding.

As long as I am still alive, maybe I can still try. :)
If you like to try as well: the pathway I mentioned.

Everyone has different roads in the life. Embracing the role genuinely means a lot at the intersection points. I just got in an aircraft with no knowledge of a fact that I am gonna be in an intersection point with a lovely person, some time ago. I was able to be good for her, she thanked me; I thank her that she gave than chance to be able to be good to her. :)

Sometimes it is extremely possible that you can feel warm in your smiles and you can even hug with those smiles even after just meeting with someones first time.

Thank you Eliška, I am so glad we met.

Mentioning a strong lovely lady who is interested in art and design in this writing…
How sweet this happened.

With the weird ones, with the new recipes we just meet with, with the ones we fear after some experiences, with the adventures we dare to live, many ways of love languages, we worth to know ourselves.

We need to meet ourselves. To be ourselves, to continue in peace, not to be afraid to stay with ourselves. For all.

This insane abundance of life takes me away.

Even being in a place for a short time can add a lot to you. Of course, you knead it within your own frame of mind, but the more material, the richer we are.

You, too, can meet wonderful people on the plane, and learn that a salad you see in Ethiopia belongs to Moroccan cuisine, from another Turkish lady who lives far away from you, thanks to the blog called My Kitchen in Melbourne. Ms. Ceviz published the recipe for this salad on October 9, 2006. If you want to read what she wrote about the culture on which her recipe is based and the cookbook, Mazouz — Momo’s Cookbook, you can visit her blog. I can refer to it this way because it’s just this name and gender, yes, Ms. Ceviz. :)

Every orange is a different one.

Carrot salad can also be made with orange.
Similar colors can also create exquisite combinations.

At the end of the day, we are all truly different,
With those who are worth knowing and meeting,
With the colors that we could create a feast of taste if we were in a salad,

to be able to be together is a need. :)

So, what color are you?
